To highlight the tourism potential of the region in the domestic and international markets, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India organized the 3rd International Tourism Mart in Shillong from the 13th-15th October 2014. The programme was organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in partnership with Tourism Department, Government of Meghalaya. The tour operators both national and international attended the programme where they were highlighted about the tourism market in the Meghalaya and North East Region.
The first ITM was held in Guwahati (Assam) in January 2013 and the second was held in Tawang (AP) in October 2013 where about 85-90 foreign delegates were in attendance. Buyers and media delegates from around the world and from different regions of the country participated in the Mart in Shillong and engaged in one-to-one meetings with sellers from the States of North Eastern Region including West Bengal, Gujarat, Delhi and Maharashtra.
The 3rd leg of the ITM 2014 in Shillong showcased the tourist potential of the state of Meghalaya with all its cultural richness and natural splendour. The Shillong Chamber Choir lead in the cultural programme hosted by the state government followed by a kaleidoscope of cultural programme of Meghalaya.
