Shad Suk Mynsiem

Meaning the dance of the joyful hearts, is celebrated in April at the Weiking, Shillong.

Rong Khli

This is one of the important festivals of Jaintia hills. Held in Nongtalang. Earlier this festival celebrated the slaying of tiger. The tiger’s carcass was brought into the village just a day before the festival and kept in a special place. Amidst rituals, the concluded with the offering of a goat, two hens, a dove and some bananas.

Wari billa

A community fishing festival specially of the Atong, a sub clan of the Garos. Deep pools on the river Simsang is reserved throughout the year and no one is allowed to fish. On a given day, usually in February the entire village fish together after netting both end of the river.
